Park Ridge set to demolish old cinema

Signaling the first tangible move in its plans to build "a significant outpatient medical campus facility" on Seventh Avenue, Park Ridge Health will host a "demolition ceremony" this month before contractors level the old Four Seasons Cinemas.

"We are thrilled to join our community in celebrating this important first step toward economic revitalization efforts of the Historic 7th Avenue area," Park Ridge President and CEO Jimm Bunch said in a news release.

Park Ridge said it was partnering with the city of Hendersonville, the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce and area business leaders in the event, which is at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15.
The site is located at the intersection of Four Seasons Boulevard and Seventh Avenue East and just before the entrance to downtown Hendersonville.
"Park Ridge Health welcomes the community for the dedication of the Four Seasons site, which will serve as a significant outpatient medical campus meeting the expanding health needs of our region," said Jason Wells, vice president of Physician Services at Park Ridge Health.

As part of its revitalization project, Park Ridge Health has partnered with The Storehouse – a Christ-centered organization serving basic needs of local families – to ensure that children in our community have gifts for Christmas this year. Park Ridge Health and The Storehouse invites the community to participate in the "Blessings in Boxes" campaign.

Each December, the Blessings in Boxes program pairs deserving children and families with generous donors in the community who provide much needed Christmas presents of clothes and toys. In 2013, 975 children received Blessings in Boxes, and this year's total is expected to exceed 1,400. Wrapped gifts must be returned by Wednesday, Dec. 10, for distribution to local families. To get involved, community members can contact The Storehouse at (828) 692-8300.
"As we take the first steps toward improving the entrance corridor to Historic Downtown Hendersonville and paving the way for future economic development, the Park Ridge Health team has explored unique and meaningful ways to introduce ourselves in the neighborhood and identified The Storehouse as the perfect partner with a similar mission," said Graham Fields, assistant to the president at Park Ridge Health.

In an interview, Fields said Park Ridge does not have specific plans that it can disclose now.

"That's what we're still working with the architects on," Fields said. "We've heard from so many people that say they don't want us to wait for the architects plans, They want us to knock it down."

Park Ridge bought the $3.25-acre parcel of land in June for $1.8 million.
