LIGHTNING PHOTOS: Spirit reigns despite drizzle

Hardy spectators managed laughter and grins and spirited parade participants marched in Hendersonville's downtown Christmas Parade in a steady drizzle that grew heavier as the event wore on.

The parade was wetter and less musical than usual. High school marching bands canceled their participation because the rain ruins instruments. That still left more than a 100 floats, churches, businesses and other civic groups, to the delight of the crowd. In part because of units that dropped out, the parade finished quickly. It started on time, at 10:30, and Santa Claus reached Sixth Avenue by 11:10 a.m.
