World-class cycling event comes to Jackson Park

Professional racers from around the world will flock to Hendersonville this weekend for the Hunter Subaru Grand Prix at Jackson Park.

The race will attract riders in pursuit of UCI ranking points and USA Cycling ProCX series points to secure their place at the USAC Cyclo-Cross National Championships in January. Hundreds of amateur cyclists will round out the NC Grand Prix, competing for prizes and award money. 2014 marks the 10th
anniversary of the Hunter Subaru NC Grand Prix, the premier event of the North Carolina CycloCross series calendar.

Henderson County Parks & Recreation Department will partner with North Carolina Cyclo-Cross to host
the event in Jackson Park, with the course taking advantage of the varied terrain features of the site.
Racing will start at 8:30 a.m. both days, with the featured pro elite women racing at 2 pm and the pro
elite men racing at 3:05pm.

There will be a free kid’s race with prizes for all each day at 12:00pm
provided by Asheville Youth Cycling. The event also features the Vendor Zone with Hubba Hubba BBQ,
Flat Rock Village Bakery, Sycamore Cycles, I9 Wheels and more. Special thanks Velosports Racing for
their support. The title sponsor the Hunter Automotive Group will have vehicles on display from
Subaru and Volvo, as well as their new Can-Am retailer, Hunter Power Sports. The event is free to
spectators! Jackson Park will remain open for public use, but there will be no thru-traffic during the
event.

Cyclo-cross is a fast-paced, spectator-friendly cycling discipline that combines elements of road and
mountain bike racing, requiring riders to ride varied terrain and at times dismount and run or carry their
bikes. The North Carolina Cyclo-Cross Series was founded in 1997 and consists of 15 races across
North Carolina. The Hunter Subaru NC Grand Prix is a UCI category 2 race, making it a valuable
point stop for elite racers in pursuit of national and international ranking points.
