'Motown Christmas' opens downtown

LaVon Fisher-Wilson is the lead singer in a 'Motown Christmas'

"A Motown Christmas," the final Music on the Rock show of the Flat Rock Playhouse season, opened Thursday and plays until Dec. 21 at the Playhouse Downtown Theatre.


Presented by Rug and Home, the concert features a compilation of beloved Christmas classics by some of Motown's great artists like, Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, the Temptations, and Smokey Robinson and the Miracles.
The soulful voices of LaVance Colley and LaVon Fisher-Wilson deliver the sound that changed American music.
The two leads are accompanied by the Flat Rock Playhouse band and a talented group of backup vocalists including CJ Barnwell, Katie Cilluffo, Melodee Edington-Leyshon and Katie Zanca. This concert takes the audience through the years of the earliest Motown Christmas releases to the latest in 2014, some of which have never been heard in live performance. With a unique blend of rhythm and blues and pop, this concert is sure to give audience members a little extra joy this holiday season.
