Tax collections running ahead

Henderson County's property tax collection total as of Jan. 4 ran $1.5 million ahead of the same period one year ago, Tax Collector Stan Duncan and Collections Specialist Luke Small reported.


Of the total charge of $59.7 million in 2014-15 taxes, the county had collected $52 million, or 87.34 percent, up from 86.09 percent on Jan. 4, 2014, the tax assessor told the Board of Commissioners last week. The percent collected for motor vehicle taxes dipped from 78.5 percent to 73.8 percent. Fire district taxes were at 86 percent collected, up from 84.5 percent a year ago.
