Youth soccer coach wins state honor

Volunteer coach Cole Renken received the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association's 2015 Boys Recreation Coach of the Year Award at the association's annual meeting in Raleigh last month.

Coach Renken has volunteered as a soccer coach in Henderson County Parks & Recreation Department's recreation soccer program since 2010. His coaching has involved coaching multiple teams, with his sons as players, each season. He has completed the NCYSA Youth II coaching license and additional coaching trainings over the years. Renken's award marks the third year in a row that a Henderson County recreation soccer coach has received a coach of the year award from NCYSA.
