Legion post collecting cell phones for soldiers

American Legion Post 77 is partnering with Hendersonville HonorAir and the nonprofit Cell Phones For Soldiers Inc. to ask Henderson County residents to help troops call home by donating gently used cellular phones.
As many as 200,000 troops are serving in the United States military overseas around the world. By donating to Cell Phones For Soldiers, residents can provide a lifeline for America's bravest.
Residents can donate their phones at American Legion Post 77, at 216 Third Avenue West, lower level entrance, and the two Miller Laundry locations at 423 N. King St. and 1620 Brevard Road.
American Legion Post 77 hopes all county and area residents will consider donations of either cell phones or money to the organization.
Founded in 2004 by teenagers Robbie and Brittany Bergquist at the ages of 12 and 13, Cell Phones For Soldiers has provided more than 210 million minutes of free talk time to servicemen and women stationed around the world through its calling card program, Minutes That Matter.
