Vote for local 911 dispatcher for national award

Lisha Stanley

Lisha Stanley, a 9-1-1 telecommunicator and communications director for the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, is among 40 national finalists in the Smart Telecommunicator Awards, a program that recognizes and rewards 9-1-1 telecommunicators for their contributions to their 9-1-1 agency and community.

For the past several weeks, 9-1-1 call-takers and dispatchers in the United States have been nominated by their colleagues and citizens. The annual awards program, now in its fourth year, has received hundreds of nominations from all across the country, and today finalists were announced to kick off an online public vote to determine winners.

The public can now review the finalist submissions and vote here through 5 p.m. April 3.

Stanley has been a dedicated public servant and telecommunicator since 1994. She is an exemplary employee who has shown expertise and dedication. During her tenure she has professionalized every aspect of our 911 Center.

She has assisted in standardizing and improving the hiring process; implemented an intense and effective training program for new telecommunicators; implemented recognition initiatives; applied for and was awarded a multimillion dollar grant for the relocation of the current 911 center including complete replacement of outdated equipment; implemented or improved several programs such as "Smart 911", reverse 911 calls to rapidly communicate emergency information to our citizens, "A Child is Missing", dispatch information available on employees smartphones, and has continued the "Reassurance Program" for our elderly. She has made professional development a priority for herself and her division. Henderson County Sheriff Charles McDonald states "Director Stanley is a member of our Command Team with valued insight, perspective and overall knowledge of all Henderson County emergency services."

"Director Stanley is a confident, knowledgeable leader who puts others first and demonstrates effective leadership skills daily. Her division is a vital link in our overall mission to serve our community with a commitment to training, professional standards and customer service," Sheriff Charlie McDonald said.
