Redesigned Maple lot to reopen Monday

The redesigned and repaved Maple Parking lot on Fifth Avenue at King Street will reopen on Monday afternoon.

Southeastern Asphalt will pave the parking lot on Friday including the leased area plus the alley from the leased lot to Fifth Avenue.

The leased lot and the paid lot will be closed until Monday to allow the asphalt to cool and keep cars from causing damage. New Dimensions will be in the lot on Monday morning to paint the parking stall lines. Once the paint is dry, the lot will be open to the public. Decorative lighting will be delivered around April 24 and installed shortly after that. A parking kiosk has been ordered and will be installed once it arrives, allowing the use of credit cards and debit cards for parking instead of coin meters. Downtown visitors are encouraged to park in the City Hall parking lot over the coming weekend until the Maple lot is available for use.

City crews removed trees along North King Street and made a new driveway cut so cars can enter and exit the lot there.
