N.C. quilt symposium coming to Flat Rock

The 2015 North Carolina Quilt Symposium Inc. will be held May 28-30 at the Bonclarken Conference Center in Flat Rock.


Entitled Mountain Stitches and sponsored by the Western North Carolina Quilt Guild and the North Carolina Quilt Symposium Inc., the symposium features classes by some of the country's best-known quilt teachers, including Sue Nickels, Wendy Butler Berns, Laura Wasilowski and Flat Rock's own Georgia Bonesteel.
Symposium attendees have their choice of several dozen classes as full-time boarding or day students, an option to select just one class, and a "Day of Fun" including a lecture, lunch and the quilt show.
The Symposium will also include three-day Quilt Show of about 180 quilts, submitted by teachers, symposium attendees and Western North Carolina Quilt Guild members. All registrants will have access to a Merchant Mall and the Quilt Show.
The Show and Merchant Mall will be open to the public for an admission fee of $5. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 29, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30.
