Blue Ridge Humane in running to win cash

Blue Ridge Humane Society made the cut twice and is among 20 animal shelters vying for the chance to receive a donation through a distillery's promotion.

Southern Grace Distilleries of Concord is sponsoring the contest to pick a North Carolina animal shelter to receive $1 for every bottle of their award-winning Sun Dog 130 Moonshine sold in North Carolina in 2015. One-hundred shelters were nominated and the Hendersonville shelter was among 51 chosen to be after Round One. Friday night Blue Ridge won enough votes to make the top 20. 

Sun Dog 130 Moonshine has been on the shelves less than two months and already sold more than 1,000 bottles in North Carolina; so more than $1,000 already awaits the winning shelter as well as sales through the end of this year.

"We have been overwhelmed with stories about Blue Ridge Humane Society and the other shelters and how they have made a difference in so many lives. We are honored to have so many worthy shelters competing in our contest," said Leanne Powell, President of Southern Grace Distilleries.
