MILLS RIVER — The Episcopal Church of the Holy Family, will celebrate its 25th year as an Episcopal Parish on Sunday, May 3.
The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. with worship led by the Rt. Rev. Porter Taylor, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina, and will continue with a reception at the Hollabrook Farms Clubhouse at 262 Hollabrook Parkway in Mills River. The church’s history goes back to June 30, 1988, when a “Soundings Meeting” was held to begin the formation of a new Episcopal mission parish in western Henderson County. On May 11,1990, Holy Family received its official recognition as a parish by then Bishop Robert Johnson. On Jan. 3, 1993, ground was broken for the present church building, and 10 months later, on Oct. 4, the current building was dedicated.
