Blue Ridge health agency appoints new medical director

Blue Ridge Community Health Services has appointed Richard Hudspeth as its new Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Hudspeth has been practicing in Henderson County as faculty in the MAHEC Hendersonville Family Practice Residency program at Hendersonville Family Health Center and at the Henderson County Health Department and Pardee Hospital for nearly 10 years. He most recently served as the Medical Director for Community Care of Western North Carolina.

After earning his undergraduate degree from Duke University, he received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed  an obstetrics fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he practiced in a community health center before returning to North Carolina. His transition to chief medical officer began May 1 and he will assume full duties of the position on July 1.
