Ellis appointed chief medical officer

Dr. David Ellis was named chief medical officer of Pardee Hospital in May 2015.

Pardee Hospital has named Dr. David Ellis as chief medical officer. He had served as interim CMO since November 2014.

“We are thrilled to announce Dr. Ellis as the permanent CMO for Pardee Hospital,” Pardee CEO James M. “Jay” Kirby II said. “Dr. Ellis is a highly regarded physician who understands all aspects and challenges of health care today. He is a strong asset to our administrative team.”
As chief medical officer, Ellis has operational oversight of multiple departments. Among his duties are coordination of the medical staff activities of the hospital, championing clinical pathways, and ensuring that the viewpoints of all physicians are presented and considered as a part of hospital strategic decisions.
Born and raised in Tullahoma, Tenn., Ellis graduated first from Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., with degrees in English and economics. He studied medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. He and his family moved to Hendersonville in 1987, where he was a partner with Hendersonville OB/GYN before founding his own practice in 1998. He has held several positions with Pardee Hospital, including medical chief of staff and chairman of the medical Executive Committee and has served on the Board of Trustees.
A fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ellis will continue to treat patients at his office on Oakland Street in Hendersonville.
“I view this move from interim to permanent as validation of the work that I’ve already done here at Pardee, as well as the work I hope to do with our hospital staff and team of physicians,” Ellis said in a statement. “I look forward to utilizing my experience to help strengthen Pardee’s mission of providing advanced, compassionate care to all of our patients.”
