Stop of wrong-way driver leads to felony arrests

Hendersonville police officers who stopped a wrong-way driver on Church Street Sunday night recovered stolen property and charged three occupants of the vehicle with a series of felonies.

After follow-up with deputies from the Henderson County, the law officers connected the three teenagers to break-ins of buildings and vehicles both in the city and county earlier in the evening. Investigators said thieves had hit the North Henderson High School baseball concession building and concessions trailer, a food truck in the city limits and another food vendor trailer in the Dana community. A cash register, soft drinks, sports drinks, candy and assorted groceries were recovered and returned to the owners.

Arrested were:

  • Christian Gutierrez, 18, of Asheville, who was charged with five counts of felony conspiracy, three counts of felony breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, two counts damage to property. Gutierrez remains in custody under a $24,000 secured bond.
  • Jerry Pastrana, 16, was charged with five counts of felony conspiracy, three counts of breaking and entering, three counts damage to property, two counts felony larceny after breaking and entering. Pastrana remains in custody under $23,000 secured bond.

A third occupant of the vehicle was a juvenile male that was entered NCIC as a missing/runaway and released to the custody of a parent.
