Pardee honors physician, philanthropist of the year

Dr. Stuart Glassman accepts award as Pardee Hospital's Physician of the Year as 2014 winner James Caserio looks on.

Pardee Hospital donors and supporters celebrated the hospital's doctor of the year and philanthropist of the year at the third annual Pardee Hospital Foundation Gala on Friday night.

Dr. Stuart Glassman was named Physician of the Year and Mary Ball Jackson was honored as Philanthropist of the Year.
The "Under the Stars" gala at Blue Ridge Community College, drawing more than 385 guests, raised more than $100,000 to benefit Pardee Hospital’s Operating Room Integration Project.
Each year, the Foundation hosts the gala to inspire community support for Pardee Hospital, through education of the Hospital’s latest achievements and recognition of physicians and philanthropists that have made a difference in the lives of many in the community. Both Dr. Glassman and Ms. Jackson were chosen as award recipients by an appointed committee, selected from nominations made by patients, community members, Pardee staff, and fellow physicians and philanthropists.
Glassman is a very engaged member of the Pardee Hospital staff and has had a thriving general and peripheral vascular surgery practice in Hendersonville for nearly 30 years. He has a passion for the arts, which is what connected him to his wife Barbara, and led him to his “alternative” career as a professional ceramic artist. Glassman’s dedication to his patients and his intent to always push Pardee Hospital toward excellence is why he stood out as a top candidate for the award of Physician of the Year. His acceptance speech at the Gala was one full of praise and accolades for Pardee, further reinforcing his dedication to not only his profession, but to the hospital as well.
Mary Ball JacksonMary Ball JacksonMary Jackson retired to Hendersonville with her husband over 20 years ago. Since she has been here, she has donated her time and talent to the Pardee Hospital Auxiliary, working in the Garden Café, and serving on the Pardee Hospital Board both as a member as well as president. She has also served on the Pardee Hospital Foundation Board and helped establish the Generations of Excellence Committee. She has also given her time to her church and to the Garden Club over the years.
The “Under the Stars” theme for the event was pulled together with a significant donation of time and materials from local businesses, Gala Committee members, and Pardee Hospital Foundation staff. Gala Committee Chairs Lisa Hamlin, William F. Gold, Deanna Ellis and Kandi Hendricks along with the following businesses helped make the event possible: AAA Vacations, Common Saints, Corner Kitchen, Flowers by Larry, Lindsay Cromartie, Empire Distributing, Jaguar Land Rover Asheville, Diamond Rush Jewelers, Pat Lance with Spintastic Sounds, U-Rent-A- Plant, and Shelley’s Jewelry.
