Deputies charge man with sexual offense

Henderson County sheriff's deputies charged a 29-year-old convicted sex offender with indecent liberties with a child on Friday after receiving a report of suspected sexual assault the previous day.

Deputies from the violent crimes unit investidated the report of an assault and obtained a warrant to arrest David Eldon Talbert, of 19 North Ann Street in Asheville, for failing to report a new address as required by his status as a registered sex offender. Officers from the Asheville Police Department were able to locate Talbert and arrest him on that warrant. On July 24, after interviews and follow-up investigation, detectives charged Talbert with a felony count of indecent liberties with a child. Jailed in Henderson County under a $100,000 bond, Talbert faces a first appearance hearing on Monday in District Court of Henderson County.
