Dark Night Studio borrows Vagabond tradition

The annual fundraiser at the Flat Rock Playhouse, shown in this historic photo, will be held on Aug. 3.

The Flat Rock Playhouse will present its annual Dark Night Revue fundraiser with a theme inspired by the longtime Vagabond tradition of a Friday late-night show not usually open to the public.

On Monday, Aug. 3, the Supporting Players Guild of Flat Rock Playhouse will present Dark Night Studio, named in honor of the Midnight Studio tradition.
Midnight Studio is a chance for Playhouse apprentices, Actors Equity professionals and those who work behind the scenes to perform fun, exciting and heartfelt songs, dances or anything else they want to share. Each Midnight Studio ends with a reading of poetry by Carl Sandburg referred to as “A Walk in the Woods.” Dark Night Studio is an opportunity for the public to be a part of that special unity that distinguishes Flat Rock Playhouse from so many other theatres while enjoying some great food and helping support the theatre.
Dark Night Studio begins at 6:30 p.m. with “Dinner by the Bite” along with demonstrations, a silent auction and a live auction. The performance takes place from 8:45 to 9:45 p.m. Catering is provided by Cuisine Team, Renzo’s Ristorante, Food Experience, Season’s at Highland Lake Inn and Hubba Hubba Smokehouse. Flowers are by An English Flower Cottage. Suggested attire is Backstage Black Chic.
Ticket prices range from $40 to $125 as follows: $125 – Access to VIP lounge, dinner by the bite and reserved preferred theatre seating; $100 – Dinner by the bite, and preferred theatre seating; $40 – reserve theatre seating.
For reservations call the Flat Rock Playhouse Box Office at 828.693.0731 and be prepared to provide guests’ names and phone numbers.
