Board of Health elects chair

The Henderson County Board of Health introduced new members and elected officers at its Aug. 11 meeting.


New members appointed to three-year terms were veterinarian Leslie Leidecker, owner of Apple Valley Animal Hospital, and Bo Caldwell, assistant superintendent of Henderson County public schools. They replaced outgoing members Beverly Hargus and Terry Hicks.
The board elected Jim Crafton as chairman and Pete Richards as vice chairman for 2015-2016. Crafton, a professional engineer, is serving his second three-year term. Richards, a dentist, served as chairman for 2014-2015.

The Board of Health is appointed by the Henderson County Board of Commissioners and operates as the governing body of the Department of Public Health. The 2015-16 members are Caldwell, Crafton, Graham Fields, Park Ridge Health; County Commissoner Bill Lapsley, Leidecker, Kris Peters, Pardee Hospital; Craig Poole, O.D., optometrist; Jerald Pyles, physician; Richards, Barbara Stanley, registered nurse; and Robyn Sutton Bryson, pharmacist.
