BRCC makes top 10 in student performance

Blue Ridge Community College finished at the top compared to other community colleges in measurements of student progress and graduate rates.

Accountability measures released by the state North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) showed that out of 58 community colleges BRCC ranked in the top 10 for GED Passing Rate and the top 15 for Curriculum Student Completion. Both of the measures exceeded the excellence level established by North Carolina Community College System. Blue Ridge scored above the state average in three of the other measures and finished above the baseline on all measurements.
A committee comprised of community college leaders, faculty and staff from across the state developed the accountability measures in 2012. The annual report measures Basic Skills Student Progress, GED Diploma Passing Rate, Developmental Student Success Rate in College-Level English Courses, Developmental Student Success Rate in College-Level Math Courses, First Year Progression, Curriculum Student Completion, Licensure and Certification Passing Rate, and College Transfer Performance.
“The results of this report provide evidence that Blue Ridge Community College is one of the top-performing community colleges in the state of North Carolina,” BRCC President Molly A. Parkhill said in a news release. “These ratings assure our students that the training and education they receive from us meets, and in some cases, exceeds the highest standards.”
