Woman charged with having gun on Apple Valley campus

A 25-year-old woman who deputies say carried a handgun onto the Apple Valley Middle campus Thursday morning has been charged with a felony count of possessing a firearm on school property, the Henderson County sheriff's office said.

Kristin McClure Stephenson, of Waynesville, was released from jail on an $8,000 bond and was scheduled for to appear in Henderson County District Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputies responded to a panic alarm that resulted in a lockdown of both the Apple Valley Middle School and North Henderson High School on Thursday morning.
