HonorAir launches free wings for vets night

HonorAir is sponsoring free wings for veterans nights on the last Wednesday of the month at South Rock Grill on Greenville Highway.

Reaching out to working veterans, Jim Miller and HonorAir have added a nighttime event offering free chicken wings to those who served or are currently enlisted in the military.

“We’re up to 60 to 75 veterans for breakfast but we’re missing the working veteran,” said Miller, who started the free breakfast for veterans 18 months ago at Dixie Diner. HonorAir came on board as a sponsor of the breakfast and is supporting the free wing night at South Rock Grill on Greenville Highway as well. Besides HonorAir, construction industry businesses including Green River Quarry and Vulcan Materials Co. had volunteered to support the wings for veterans night, said Miller, a grading contractor.
“It’s another venue for us to pat the veteran on the back,” said Miller, a longtime supporter of HonorAir and no relation to its founder, Jeff Miller. “It’s an opportunity for the working veteran to swing by from 5 to 7 on the last Wednesday. We’ll treat him to his first round of wings.”
Miller said the veteran appreciation organization will buy the wings but not beer.
“I fully expect there will be come patrons that will help buy a round,” he said.
