Pardee in top 5% for patient safety

Pardee Hospital was named among the top 5 percent in the nation for patient safety in 2015 by Healthgrades, an  online resource that helps consumers research and choose doctors and hospitals.

The recognition is part of Healthgrades' 2016 "Report to the Nation." Healthgrades also recognized Pardee as one of America’s 100 Best hospitals for Orthopedic Care out of nearly 4,500 hospitals evaluated nationwide for 33 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions.
The new report demonstrates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically between hospitals both nationally and regionally. This variation in care may have a significant impact on health outcomes. For example, from 2012 through 2014, if all hospitals as a group, performed similarly to hospitals receiving 5 stars as a group, on average 222,392 lives could potentially have been saved and 166,086 complications could potentially have been avoided. A 5-star rating indicates that Pardee’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or conducting the procedure being evaluated.
“Pardee Hospital has consistently been recognized for its outstanding clinical and patient safety," Pardee CEO Jay Kirby said in a news release.

"The latest recognition from Healthgrades is a testament to the quality of the services and outstanding team at Pardee Hospital. I am also pleased that Pardee has been recognized as one of America’s 100 Best hospitals for Orthopedic Care. We have an excellent family of orthopedic surgeons in our community that share in this recognition. I hope that the people of Henderson County feel as proud as I do that our community hospital is one of only two in North Carolina, and the only one in the western half of the state, to receive this recognition.”
