Deputies say S.C. men operated mobile meth lab

Henderson County sheriff’s deputies charged two people with operating a mobile meth lab after they stopped their Jeep on an isolated area near DuPont State Forest.

Deputies spotted a suspicious vehicle on Sky Valley Road near the intersection of Hickory Mountain Lane at 5:20 a.m. Thursday. They found that the white Jeep Cherokee was occupied by Fredrick Marshall Payseur, 53, and Coy Landrum Thompson, 42, both of Hollywood, S.C. Deputies found the tag displayed on the Jeep was stolen from a church in South Carolina. They found chemicals and paraphernalia in the vehicle believed to be a mobile methamphetamine lab. Deputies located numerous firearms in the vehicle and are working with South Carolina authorities to determine their origin. Payseur and Thompson were arrested at the scene.

Agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and criminal investigators from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office assisted in processing hazardous chemicals seized from the vehicle and checking the origin of the numerous recovered firearms.

Coy Landrum Thompson was jailed under a $20,500 bond and charged with one felony count of possession of precursor chemicals with intent to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and two counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Fredrick Marshall Payseur was jailed under a $50,500 bond and charged with one felony count of possession of controlled substances on the premises of detention facility; one felony count of possession of precursor chemicals with intent to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine; three misdemeanor counts of failure to appear on DWI related charges from 2012; and two misdemeanor counts possession of drug paraphernalia.
