Two charged with murder in body dumped on Ninth Avenue

Hendersonville police have issued murder warrants for a 23-year-old man and 20-year-old woman in the death of Deque DeAngelo Taylor, the 28-year-old Fletcher man who was dumped out of a Jeep on Ninth Avenue last week.

Investigators are continuing to investigate the death that was discovered last Thursday. Over the past several days detectives with the police department have conducted numerous interviews and collected a significant amount of information. Based upon the investigation detectives have secured warrants for the arrest of local residents Shawn Hollifield and Savannah Walker, charging them with murder.

In addition the police department learned the results of an autopsy. It showed that Taylor died of blunt force trauma, most likely from "something at the crime," said Lt. Chris LeRoy. That could have been the roadway, a post or the fence in the area where Taylor landed.

Police had not arrested Hollifield and Walker at 3:45 p.m. "We're working on a half dozen addresses," he said.
The city police department has gotten assistance from the Henderson County sheriff's department, Fletcher and Asheville police and the SBI. As for a motive and the identity of the person who rented the Jeep, LeRoy said "that's part of the investigation."

The investigation is ongoing and the public is asked to call the police department with any information regarding the investigation or the whereabouts of either Hollifield or Walker at 828-697-3025 or Henderson County Crime stoppers at 828-697-STOP.
