A 206-unit apartment development could be just the first step in a large development that could reshape the North Main Street area of Hendersonville. We’ve seen it before, yes, but the first edition of the so-called urban village was approved at the beginning of the real estate crash. This time the moderately priced apartments, and potentially office and retail use, are in the works as the market is heating up. Add 18 single-family homes and an apartment project the Housing Assistance Corp. plans nearby and we could see North Main boom. The NCDOT has taken notice, and has moved up proposed road improvements on North Main, Balfour Road and Duncan Hill.
