The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the French Broad River at Blantyre in Henderson and Transylvania counties from 4 p.m. today through 1 p.m. Sunday and the rest of the area remained under a flood watch. Forecasters say the Christmas deluge will continue through Christmas Day.

There's a 70 percent chance of showers and thundershowers throughout Christmas Eve with new rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. Christmas Day we'll see more rain throughout the day with thunderstorms later Christmas afternoon and a high of 69, the National Weather Service said.

The chance of rain drops to 30 percent on Saturday when the high should reach 68. Sunday should be 68 again with a 40 percent chance of rain, and showers are likely Monday and Tuesday.
