MountainTrue sets training for stream monitoring

MountainTrue will hold volunteer training for the Stream Monitoring Information Exchange, a biomonitoring program that measures water quality by sampling aquatic insects, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 12.

After instruction work in Room 116 of the Arts and Science Building at Blue Ridge Community College, participants will carpool in the afternoon to Big Hungry River.
New and returning volunteers for the stream monitoring program are welcome. Bring a water bottle, a pen or pencil and waders if you have them (some waders will be provided and not all participants will need to enter the stream). To RSVP visit http://bit.ly/SMIEwater.

MountainTrue relies on volunteers to monitor stream health throughout Henderson County twice a year, once in April and once in October. The program is part of MountainTrue’s Clean Water Team, which works to protect Henderson County’s six watersheds through monitoring and testing of more than 30 streams.
