Lake Lure invites residents to gather for 'thank you' video

LAKE LURE — After 25 days the Party Rock fire was declared fully contained and the town of Lake Lure invited residents affected by the fire to gather in red or yellow shirts on Sunday to make a thank you video thanking firefighters.

The fire operations have switched to suppression repair and demobilization while much of the personnel has been redeployed to other fires. The incident management team transfers management to the N.C. Forest Service on Wednesday. The Party Rock fire started on Nov. 5 and grew to 7,145 acres before it was contained.

The donations received have been greatly appreciated; no additional supplies are needed. If you would like to donate monetarily, we ask that you please donate to a local fire department or the Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation. The foundation will act as a pass through for needs directly associated with the fire. Send donations to:

Lake Lure invited townspeople and those from the entire affected area to gather at 2:30 p.m. in Morse Park Meadow in Lake Lure. Plan to be there for 30-45 minutes to make a short video showing thanks.
