Health Board again recognized as outstanding

Henderson County Public Health Board members Barbara Stanley, Robyn Bryson, Bo Caldwell and Jim Crafton accept award from Bill Lapsley, who is the County Commission liaison on the Board of Health.

The Henderson County Board of Health was recognized by the Association of North Carolina Boards of Health as an Outstanding Board of Health at Monday's meeting of the Henderson County Board of Commissioners.



The qualifying criteria for a nominated board of health include:

· The board’s leadership in public health accomplishments must be clearly evident
· The accomplishment must either have documented results or be currently producing intended results
· The activity may be accomplished through the health department, other agencies, or groups

Commissioner Bill Lapsley, who serves on the Henderson County Board of Health, presented board members with a plaque honoring the Board’s dedication and visionary approach to issues such as school population health, substance abuse and mental health. There are 84 boards of health in the state of North Carolina. Henderson County’s Board of Health has received this honor twice within an unprecedented four-year timeframe, in January 2015 and again this year.
