Bullington Gardens, a Horticultural Education Center, is the new official name of the Bullington Center on located on Upper Red Oak Trail in Hendersonville.
The name change took place in September and has been approved by the Henderson County Education Foundation, Henderson County public schools and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension-Henderson County.
The name to Bullington Gardens provides greater clarity to the direction and mission of the organization, its director said.
"The name also more accurately represents Bullington to the public, which helps us build our awareness within the community," Bullington director John Murphy said.
The public is welcome to stroll and enjoy the gardens, and as is true with other public gardens, Bullington provides educational opportunities to the community in the area of horticulture and related fields.
Bullington is a 12-acre horticultural education center in partnership with the Henderson County Education Foundation, Henderson County schools, and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension-Henderson County. Once the home and nursery of Bob Bullington, it is now a place for children and adults to learn about gardening and plant science with hands-on workshops and educational programs. Visitors are welcome Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
