Pardee golf tourney raises $115,000

Pardee Foundation's Seventeenth Annual Tournament of Champions at Kenmure Country Club in Flat Rock raised more than $115,000 to purchase medical equipment for Pardee Hospital.

"The goal of the 2012 Tournament of Champions – to raise at least $95,000 to help Pardee buy portable X-ray units that create instant digital views for physicians at patients' bedsides was exceeded," said William Lapsley, co-chair of Pardee Foundation's 2012 Tournament Committee and a member of Pardee Hospital's Board of Directors. "Everyone I talked to had positive comments about this year's Tournament," Lapsley said. "I got several comments from people who thought it was great that we had so many volunteers helping with the tournament."
Lapsley, who also serves on Pardee Hospital's Board of Directors, served as co-chair of this year's Tournament Committee with Pardee Foundation President Lynn Matykiewicz. Lapsley played with a team in the 18-hole tournament in the afternoon and Matykiewicz played in the morning's 9-hole event.
More than 160 golfers competed in Pardee Foundation's popular 9 and 18-hole tournaments to give back to our community's health care.
UNC Health Care System, generously served as the Lead Sponsor of this year's Tournament of Champions. Hendersonville Health & Rehab/Beystone Health & Rehab, a Sanstone Community, and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Asheville served as Diamond Sponsors. Eight other organizations – Ameri-Quipt of NC, Inc., HealthCare Claims Management, LINCARE, Pardee Hospital, ParsecFinancial Management, Inc., the Times-News, Wright McGraw Beyer Architects, PA., and USB Financial Services/Bill Gold, supported the Tournament as Gold Sponsors. In all, 51 sponsors supported the tournament.
Since 1996, the Tournament of Champions has raised more than $1.4 million to expand Pardee Hospital, improve services and purchase equipment to strengthen patient care.
