Developer seeks OK for 377 homes on Clear Creek Road

A site plan shows 227 single-family lots west of Clear Creek Road and 150 townhomes in 37 buildings in a pie-shaped parcel between Clear Creek Road and I-26.

The Asheville developer who proposed the Tap Root Farms development on Butler Bridge Road is seeking approval from the city of Hendersonville for another big development — 377 single-family homes and townhomes on either side of Clear Creek Road south of I-26.

Clear Creek Investment Group filed an application for Planned Residential Development zoning for a mostly wooded 92-acre site roughly bounded by Clear Creek, Balfour Road and I-26.
Land records show that parcels include 18.8 acres owned by the Nelle B. Cantrell trust, 42.4 acres owned by Heather Groover Fernandez and 22.6 acres owned by Clear Creek Investment Group, which was incorporated in March by Ken Jackson, of L.B. Jackson & Co. in Asheville, and Robert J. Grimsley, of Furlong, Pennsylvania.
A site plan drawn by WGLA Engineering shows 227 single-family lots west of Clear Creek Road and 150 townhomes in 37 buildings on the east side of the road north of Carolina Village’s newest expansion. The property on the west side abuts Cumberland Village, a senior community with around 50 homes off Balfour Road.
City planners will hold a neighborhood compatibility meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the City Operations Center on Williams Street.
The proposed subdivision is the second large subdivision Jackson has proposed in the county this year. His request for zoning approval for an 891-unit development of single-family homes and townhomes on the Tap Root dairy farm property is scheduled to be taken up by the Henderson County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday.
Jackson and WGLA engineer Will Buie could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.
