Garden Jubilee features 200 vendors, plus expert talks

Garden Jubilee will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday  and Sunday on Memorial Day weekend. Featuring more than 200 plant and craft vendors, the event transforms downtown Hendersonville into a garden wonderland.

Presented by Stuller Power Solutions, the festival showcases an array of local and regional nurseries, orchards and crafters offering plants, garden accessories and handmade creations. Attendees can get the latest tips and techniques for gardening. Downtown shops and restaurants are open and ready to cater to any shopping and dining needs, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday the Hendersonville Farmers Market will be in full swing in the Historic Seventh Avenue District.

Unfortunately, it's not looking like chamber of commerce weather for either day. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a  50 percent chance of showers Saturday under mostly cloudy skies with a high near 58. Showers are even more likely Sunday, with a 70 percent chance.

The Speaker Series, at the Visitors Center stage, 201 S. Main St., includes:

  • 9 a.m. Opening remarks
  • 9:30 a.m. Horticultural Therapy
  • 10:30 a.m. Hendersonville Tree Canopy Study
  • 11:30 a.m. Native Bees vs Honey Bees: We’re All in This Together
  • 12:30 p.m. How Pollination Happens
  • 1:30 p.m. Recipes for Pollinator Garden Success
  • 2:30 p.m. Use and Care of Your Outdoor Yard Equipment

In addition to Stuller Power Solutions, Garden Jubilee is sponsored by YAM (Yoga and Massage), Joyce Factory Direct, NextHome WNC Realty by Laura Flores, Lowes, Cascades Mountain Resort and theHenderson County Tourism Development Authority.

Please leave pets safely at home. Main Street from Barnwell Street to Sixth Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic during the festival. No Main Street parking will be allowed after 3 p.m. Friday due to event setup and no sidewalk dining will be allowed after 4 p.m. Sunday due to event cleanup.
