A homegrown talent, Carlos Vega, has been hired as the new operations director for the Fazio Family Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County, the youth organization announced.
Carlos first stepped through the doors of the Boys & Girls Club as a 6-year-old boy and remained a member for 12 years. During that time, he played in the Club’s basketball and soccer leagues, participated in leadership programs like Torch Club and Keystone, learned from catalytic mentorships, and made lasting friendships. The Club has been a major source of positive change in Carlos’ life, and this generational impact continues to this day now that his daughter is also growing up as a Club member. This support has encouraged Carlos to give back to the community that invested so much in his success, serving first as the club’s K-5 unit director and now as the operations director overseeing programming for all grades.
“I am so excited to be stepping into my new role as Operations Director,” Carlos said. “Having this opportunity to now serve a place that has given me so many opportunities both as a kid and as an adult is amazing. The Club was always a place where I was welcomed back with open arms, no matter what.”
In his new position, Carlos will manage the Club’s robust portfolio of programs to ensure the Club continues to provide a safe, encouraging environment for Henderson County's young people. His personal experiences as a Club member inform his perspective on how to build vibrant, dynamic youth services.
“The memories I carry of my time at the Club are why I still carry my Club card,” Carlos shared. “To now be able to help inspire and enable the youth in our community at a place that is like a second home to me is one of the most fulfilling opportunities I could have ever imagined.”
Carlos’s journey from Club member to leader is an endearing reminder of the Boys & Girls Club's commitment to positively impacting young lives. We are confident that with his experience and passion, the Club will continue to thrive and make a lasting difference for the youth and families in Henderson County.
