Tickets still available for IAM concert featuring Up Dog

Up Dog will perform at IAM's Warmth of Home concert Monday, Nov. 18.

Tickets are still available for the 10th annual Warmth of Home Concert, a benefit for Interfaith Assistance Ministry, on Monday, Nov. 18, at the Flat Rock Playhouse.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with a reception with hot and cold beverages, hors d’oeuvres, a raffle followed by acoustic and danceable music performed by musicians who are generously donating their time.

Interfaith Assistance Ministry believes no one should have to choose between feeding their family, paying rent or keeping them warm. That’s why IAM, Henderson County’s largest crisis services nonprofit, provides heating assistance by helping with power bills, fuel bills and warm winter clothing, to keep local families from having to make such difficult and heartbreaking choices.

“The Warmth of Home Concert will be a fun evening of good music and good food and hopefully some dancing in the aisles during the second half of the concert when Up Dog takes the stage,” said IAM Executive Director Elizabeth Willson Moss. “We are so incredibly grateful to the Flat Rock Playhouse for partnering with IAM to help keep Henderson County’s children and adults warm this winter.”

Tickets are $35 and may be purchased at the door or by visiting www.iamhendersoncounty.org.

Performers are:

  • Up Dog, Hendersonville’s high energy rock band headed by Dr. John Strickland who sings lead vocals. Other band members include Steve Nemec on bass, Bill Thorn on rhythm guitar and harmonica, Brian ‘Cat’ Cattrell on drums and Mike Morrison on lead guitar. The band plays classic covers from Aerosmith to ZZ Top. Up Dog is playing the second half of the concert.
  • Steve Johnson Acoustic Trio, comprised of Steve Johnson on the banjo, J. Larry Keith on lead guitar and vocals and Rick McMinn on bass and vocals. The acoustic trio is playing the first half of the concert.
  • Kyra Hewitt, a 12-year-old singer and actress who frequently appears in Flat Rock Playhouse shows. Kyra will perform between the two bands.

Those who cannot attend but would like to donate to IAM may send a check (‘Warmth of Home’ in the memo line) to IAM, P.O. Box 2562, Hendersonville, NC 28793.
