The YouTheatre of Flat Rock Playhouse will host its Annual Spring Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 28, on the grounds of the YouTheatre Education Center.

Spring Festival is the culmination of the spring session of classes and gives the students the pleasure and excitement of sharing their classroom work as performances for the public. Each spring, hundreds of families enjoy live, wholesome theatre — many for the first time. The festival will be held outdoors with a street-fair flavor. There will be live performances and presentations from classes that specialized in acting, singing, dancing, along visual arts along with games, arts and crafts, food and more.

Spring Festival will feature mini performances and presentations from: YT Revolution, Rising Stars, Acting In Wonderland, Sing for Broadway Stage, Boxcar Children, Acting Foundations, Film/Claymation/Art Classes, Dance Classes, High School Acting, Next Stage, Musical Mania and Company.

Games include: ping-a fish, soda bottle ring toss, bean bag toss, pick a duck, hullaballoo cake walk, hole-in-one, football toss, chalk and bubble free-play, along with guitar making craft booth, and a bounce house.

As a professional theatre, Flat Rock Playhouse is fortunate to be able serve the students of YouTheatre. The Playhouse is unique in having educational programming that is directly linked to a professional theatre. The students have immediate access to expert theatre magic makers and learn first hand the ins and outs of the process of staging a production. Under the guise of fun, the true goals of YouTheatre are to help the students develop a sense of self, to build self-esteem and to foster their development as good citizens. Which ties in to the mission of YouTheatre that exposure to the arts encourages critical thinking, sharpens interpersonal skills and helps to channel energy in a positive manner.

Sponsored by Reid & Reid Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, the community is invited to join YouTheatre for a day of entertaining fun the whole family can enjoy. Tickets to Spring Festival are $5 for adults and children and students 18 and younger are admitted for free. The YouTheatre Education Center is at 1855 Little River Road, Flat Rock. Guests are welcome to park down the hill at Flat Rock Playhouse and walk the path to the Education Center.
