Buddy K, classic rock, Zac Brown tribute headline Apple Festival stage

Big band sound, classic rock, beach music and a Zac Brown tribute band headline the entertainment for the 73rd North Carolina Apple Festival on Labor Day weekend, the festival announced.

The lineup includes a broad range of music styles from traditional bluegrass to classic rock bands to party bands plus local dance studio performances on the stage in the Historic Courthouse plaza.

Headliners are:

• Friday, Aug. 30: Buddy K Big Band, big band music and great American standards.
• Saturday, Aug. 31: Super Sixties, covering a rock'n'roll decade, and Rivermist, a classic rock and variety music act.
• Sunday, Sept. 1: 20 Ride, a Zac Brown tribute band, and Hip Pocket Band, a beach music and party band.

Apple Festival board members and entertainment staff heard Rivermist, 20 Ride and Hip Pocket at an annual conference of the North Carolina Association of Festivals and Events.

"We know that our attendees will enjoy them as much as we did at the conference," festival director David Nicholson said.
