Jackson Park is out and Hunter Nissan is in for shuttle parking for this year's North Carolina Apple Festival. Jackson Park was used for years as a park and ride site for festival-goers, but this year the tradition is giving way to Hunter's service, which will be free. The dealership will provide free parking at its 1340 Spartanburg Highway location and will shuttle people to the Grove Street Courthouse. “We want to provide a free shuttle service from our Nissan location at 1340 Spartanburg Highway for this year’s Apple Festival in an effort to make it more convenient for locals to park and to help with parking issues,” owner Randy Hunter said in a news release. Eva Ritchey, who runs the Trolley Co. in Hendersonville, said she had been trying to arrange shuttle service but so far had not nailed down anything other than service between the Seventh Avenue Farmers Market on Sunday and the city's Azalea lot on King Street between Third and Fourth avenues. "They need to let people know that have been using Jackson Park forever that there's not going to be any parking (and shuttle service) there," she said. Hunter will run the shuttle service Friday, Saturday and Sunday. “There will be plenty of room for vehicles to park at Hunter Nissan, and the shuttle will run continuously back and forth to the festival starting Friday and ending Sunday," said Hunter service director Randy McFalls. The shuttle service will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information visit www.facebook.com/hunternissan or hunterautogroup.com or call 697-2222. Read Story »
