Citing Covid spike, foundation calls off Oct. 13 luncheon

Community Foundation of Henderson County announced Tuesday that it has canceled the in-person annual luncheon that had been scheduled for Oct. 13 at Jeter Mountain Farm.

“When we made initial plans for our annual luncheon, local coronavirus positive cases were very low. However, after invitations were mailed, cases began to climb,” Foundation President McCray Benson said. “In order to protect the health of our community, we feel it is most responsible to refrain from gathering a large group for a meal and program at this time.”
Those who had already purchased tickets to the Annual Luncheon are encouraged to contact Community Foundation of Henderson County at 828-697-6224 or visit their website at cfhcforever.org/explore/events to request a luncheon or Patron ticket refund. Ticket purchases may also be converted to a fully tax- deductible donation to support the important work of Community Foundation of Henderson County.
While gathering in-person is paused, Community Foundation of Henderson County’s work continues. With donors’ help this past fiscal year, Community Foundation of Henderson County:
• Awarded $4.5 million in grants and scholarships
• Received $4.2 million in new contributions
• Stewarded $136 million in assets as of June 30, 2021 with 94 percent of those assets being endowed to provide charitable support in perpetuity
• Reached $73.8 million in grants and annuities paid out since 1982
The Community Foundation of Henderson County encourages supporters to stay tuned with the organization online for the announcement of the 2021 Richard C. and Vina L. Sauer Charitable Leadership and Dot Marlow Philanthropic Catalyst Award recipients.
