Two seriously burned in house explosion

FLETCHER — Henderson County sheriff's deputies and the county fire marshal are investigating a house explosion that seriously injured two residents in the home at 1:05 p.m. today.

Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting an explosion in the Kyles Creek Road area. Fletcher Fire & Rescue was dispatched and while responding the 911 center received additional information as to the exact location of the explosion. When first responders arrived on scene they observed that a residential structure had exploded and that two persons had sustained injuries as the result of the explosion. WLOS news reported that the victims were a father and son.

Due to the extent of those injuries, Henderson County EMS requested that both Mountain Air Medical Ambulances respond to the scene. Both persons who sustained injuries were transported to the burn center via air ambulance.

The Henderson County fire marshal's office along with Fletcher Fire & Rescue are currently conducting the investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. The incident is not the subject of a criminal investigation, the sheriff's office said.
