What do you do in your volunteer job?

I’ve been doing this for years. I build things. I look for improvements to make things better. I cook all the turkeys, whatever has to be done. I’m good at getting people to help. I have no problem asking people to help.

How long have you been volunteering?
This will be my 14th year.

Why do you volunteer?
Let me tell you something, when you see the smile on people’s faces, when they all have a great Christmas meal, it doesn’t get any better than that. It’s a spectacular thing. I look forward to it every year.

What’s the best thing about volunteering?
It makes you feel good that you’re actually doing something. It’s community. It’s all volunteers. The whole deal is all volunteers. What more can you ask for? It’s a good thing all around. There are so many different things to do.

If someone is interested in volunteering, what advice would you give based on your own experience?
Do it. Find something you like to do. I didn’t know how to cook turkeys when I first started. You can look and find something and they can mentor you. I can do a little of everything.
