Are you an originalist on the Constitution?

Edwards: "Yes, and the way I support that is the way I have on the Senate floor. I have the third highest conservative voting record in the entire General Assembly."

Honeycutt: "Yes, by stopping big tech from our former presidents having free speech on Twitter."

Sluder: "Yes. the first three words of that Constitution are what, We the people, and the buck has to stop there."

Burril: "Yes,  I am100 pecent pro-life, I am 100 pro-Second Amendment and I'm also 100 percent First Amendment."

Woodhouse. "I am 100 percent support this document and I will put my hand oj thjis bible despi pibs want to take it away."

Nevarez: "Yes, I believe it shoud be equally applied to everybody. It is meant for society and the great ideas those founding fathers had to catch up. You drive what our constitution is."

O'Connell: "I believe the Constitution is the greatest goernment document ever written. "It can be amended and it has been and there is such a thing as the Bill of Rights."

Cawthorn: "The answer is yes. There are multiple ways to interpret the Constitution but the correct way is through the lens of original intent."

All declared themselves strongly pro-life, except Nevarez. "Your beloved Mr. Robinson has clearly not had a problem with abortion," she said. She said while she personally thinks abortion is wrong she does not believe it should be outlawed. She said she favors the government "staying out of your bedroom and staying out of your doctor's office." Cawthorn responded later, saying he thought it was "cowardly and weak" to attack a man who was absent. He defended Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson's "journey" from pro-choice to becoming a strong pro-life advocate and said he supports him.

On numerous topics, Nevarez distinguished herself from the hard-right orthodoxy that the seven other candidates adhered to. The candidates mostly avoided direct attacks on one another and closed with strongly conservative summations and appealed for support.
