FLAT ROCK— A containment structure enclosing the front door of the Flat Rock post office had motorists doing a double-take over the weekend.
Workers from Eastern Environmental Inc. of Hampstead, north of Wilmington on the North Carolina coast, were using asbestos abatement equipment while they removed the old tile flooring in the building. The workers said they expected to be finished with their work in time for the post office to reopen on Monday but they said they were not contracted to install new flooring. The Lightning is seeking more information on the project.
