State regulators have approved an certificate of need application from Mission Health to add two new emergency rooms — one near the corner of Hendersonville Road and Airport Road in South Asheville, the other west of Asheville toward Candler, Mission HCA announced Wednesday.
“We are excited to be able to expand the quality care we provide at Mission Hospital’s ER in Asheville," Mission CEO Chad Patrick said. "Our neighbors to the south and west will soon have closer access to exceptional emergency care."
Both will be fully functioning ERs open 24/7 and will include:
• 12 patient rooms
• On-site diagnostic imaging (CT, x-ray, ultrasound) and clinical laboratory services
• Board-certified emergency physicians and ACLS-trained emergency nursing staff
• Compliance with the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act regulations as well as appropriate state regulations
Approximate date for openings is projected to be late 2023.
