County honors veteran law officers in retirement sendoff

Henderson County commissioners honored three veteran law officers Monday night with resolutions expressing gratitude for their service and sending them into retirement with their service badge and sidearm.

Officers honored included:

  • Maj. Erik Summey, who joined the Sheriff’s Office as a deputy on Dec. 11,1989. He climbed through the ranks as sergeant, captain and major in addition to his service as Fletcher police chief, a total of 33 years.
  • Capt. Brandon Staton, who joined the Sheriff’s Office as a deputy on Dec. 12, 1994, and served as corporal, sergeant, lieutenant and district captain during his 30-year career.
  • Lt. Kevin Holden, who joined the Sheriff’s Office as a Lieutenant on Dec. 10, 2018, and retires with 31 years in law enforcement.
