MLK Day of Service returns in person to pack meals for needy families

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service will return to an in-person event Monday, Jan. 16, to pack meals for needy families.

Sponsored by St. James, NAACP, Grace Lutheran, First Congregational, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Hendersonville, Holy Family and Agudas Israel, the day of service starts at noon at St. James Episcopal Church’s Parish Hall. The public is invited to participate in the local observance of a national Martin Luther King Jr. Day service day.

Youth groups will host a brief opening program honoring Dr. King’s legacy. Then, as in past years, volunteers will safely gather to bag family meals of rice and beans for clients of the Storehouse. Go here to make a donation to help neighbors in need.
