Water main repair triggers boil-water advisory in Flat Rock

A Hendersonville city water crew works on a water main repair on Falkirk Road in Cobblestone off Greenville Highway.

A water main repair forced city crews to shut off water to parts of Flat Rock on Saturday.

Repairs should be completed by around 3 p.m. Saturday, a city employee answering the water department's emergency line said. The outage affected Claremont, Kingcrest and Cobblestone and but not Kenmure. Mayor Nick Weedman, who lives in Kenmure, said the neighborhood had water and that the Kenmure Property Owners Association had issued no advisory about a water outage.

A boil-water advisory was in effect until further notice for Claremont, Kingcrest and Cobblestone, the city water department said. The outage left 154 homes without water.

At the scene of the broken 8-inch water main on Falkirk Way in Cobblestone, a crew leader said he didn't know how long the repair would take. The city became aware of the break when a water main blew out early Saturday morning, he said.
