Concert celebrates 59-year love story of poet and goat farmer

In celebration of Carl and Lilian Sandburg’s 59-year love story, the Friends of Carl Sandburg is hosting a special Four Seasons Chamber Orchestra concert of love in homage to Lilian at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1245 Sixth Ave. West.

The performance led by conductor Eric Scheider. “Dream Counterpoint: The Sandburgs in Love” will include music from J.S. Bach’s Cantata #208 (“Live, Sun of the Earth,” “Sheep May Safely Graze,” “Loveliest Glances”); Florence Price’s Folksongs in Counterpoint (“Oh My Darlin’ Clementine,” “Drink to Me with Thine Own Eyes,” “Shortnin’ Bread”) and Richard Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll. The concert is free with donations welcomed at the door.
