Rescue Squad hosts open house for volunteer recruitment

Henderson County Rescue Squad’s volunteer recruitment season is under way as the squad plans to bring on 10 new volunteer members for 2024.

The annual onboarding of new volunteers aids the squad in its goal to increase technical capabilities and reduce emergency response times in Henderson County and its neighboring communities.

Prospective volunteers are encouraged to attend one of the two remaining open houses to learn more— 6-7 p.m. Sept. 26 and Oct. 10 at the squad’s station, 2529 Asheville Highway. The open houses are a great opportunity to meet team members, learn more about what the squad does, get a tour of a station and find out what all being a volunteer member entails.

The rescue squad will be accepting applications until Friday, Oct. 13. The application can be found at hendersoncountyrescue.org and can be submitted via email or dropped off at the station. Interested individuals are also encouraged to follow Henderson County Rescue Squad on Facebook and Instagram for reminders, updates and news.

Henderson County Rescue Squad has been operating as a volunteer-based organization since 1957. Its highly-trained team members provide a multitude of services for the community ranging from medical emergency response, water rescues, vehicle entrapments, wilderness rescue, underwater search and recovery, and medical standby for community events. It is the hardwork and dedication from all of the Henderson County Rescue Squad team members that allow the squad to continue to be such an asset for the community.
